The Assassination of Charlie Kirk

Carol Marks

TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

The shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk has created a profound national moment of grief, intensified by its occurrence on the solemn anniversary of 9/11. These twin tragedies—one embedded in our collective memory, the other a fresh wound—converge to remind us that while evil can strike without warning, the legacy of those who stand for truth cannot be extinguished.

Charlie Kirk embodied a rare combination of youthful energy and timeless wisdom. His assassination bears disturbing parallels to other historical voices silenced for their convictions, most notably Martin Luther King Jr. Both men were lightning rods who refused to compromise, who built movements larger than themselves, and who ultimately paid the ultimate price for their courage to speak boldly in a world resistant to their message. As Dennis Prager eloquently stated in his moving tribute, Charlie was "the most articulate spokesman for America and its Christian value system and the Greek emphasis on logic and reason." His ability to engage young people while defending traditional values made him a uniquely powerful voice in American culture.

What happens now? The torch has been passed to all who share Charlie's vision for America. His voice may be silenced, but the movement he built cannot be assassinated. By flooding our conversations with his words and ideas rather than giving attention to those celebrating violence, we demonstrate that intimidation fails to silence truth. We stand resolved to honor not just with tears but with action, proving that while assassins may take lives, they cannot erase legacies. Join us in carrying forward Charlie's commitment to speaking truth with courage, engaging ideas with reason, and loving God and country without apology. Share your favorite Charlie Kirk moments and help ensure his voice continues to resonate despite this unspeakable tragedy.

Speaker 1:

Today we carry the weight of two heavy truths. September 11th will always stand as a day of remembrance, when America was attacked but also reminded of her strength. And now, layered on top of that solemn memory, we face the shock and grief of another devastating loss the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Different events, different times, yet the emotions collide Grief, anger, disbelief, a sense that evil struck once again, this time to silence a man whose only crime was loving God and country and daring to speak truth in the world that didn't want to hear it.

Speaker 1:

Charlie's assassination feels like a modern echo of history. Just as Martin Luther King Jr was struck down in his prime for daring to lead a movement and confront the culture, charlie too has been silenced for his courage and influence. Both men were lightning rods, unafraid to speak boldly and unwilling to compromise their convictions. And though their voices have been cut short, their visions live on, because the movements they built cannot be assassinated. Charlie was especially known for reaching the younger generation, reminding them that they mattered, that truth mattered, that their voices mattered. But his influence reached beyond age. He sparked something in all of us, a fire to stand up, to speak out, to carry the weight of freedom with courage. So, as we grieve today, remembering the lives lost on 9-11 and mourning the loss of Charlie Kirk, we also stand resolved, resolved, to honor their memory not just with tears but with action. Resolved to prove that, while evil may take lives, it cannot erase legacies. Rest in peace, charlie. You ran your race with conviction. Now it's on us to carry the torch forward.

Speaker 1:

And now I just want to go over to X and read some, some people. Some read, read X posts that people have written about Charlie. Uh, I mean, it's just devastating. Let me go find some. I mean, there was all kinds of people commenting and I hope that my social media feeds get filled with Charlie Kirk clips and videos. In fact, I'm going to go seek them out and post them too. I don't want any of the haters out there. I don't want to talk about the people out there that are. I don't even want to talk about it. I want to talk about Charlie and what he's done, and I hope his movement continues. I really do so.

Speaker 1:

Here's one from Dennis Prager as an American, as a Jew and as Dennis, I am devastated at the assassination of Charlie Kirk. The truth is, as I write these words, I can't believe I am writing them. I am in the denial stage of mourning as an American. We have lost the most articulate spokesman for America and itsChristian value system and the Greek emphasis on logic and reason. Charlie was a uniquely gifted individual who, in his teens, created theuing with any student who wished to debate him. Using his vast reservoir of facts and his exceptionally speedy and articulate mind, he gave them what seemed to be unlimited amounts of time and then calmly eviscerated all their anti-American, anti-western and anti-Judeo-Christian positions. I watched an inordinate number of these exchanges and thanked God that Charlie Kirk was there to do his work. America's youth in particular have lost a moral and intellectual leader, one who would perhaps have one day become their president. As a committed Jew, I thank God regularly that a non-Jew, a committed Christian, became one of the few great public spokesmen on behalf of Israel, the Jewish communities outside of Israel. Few Jews could match Charlie's knowledge and eloquent arguments on behalf of those two entities.

Speaker 1:

As Dennis, I have lost a very close friend. Charlie repeatedly visited me in various hospitals that I have been in since November 12th of at least of last year, when I suffered a catastrophic fall which has left me paralyzed when members of the nursing staff heard that Charlie Kirk was visiting me, my room became the most popular one in the hospital. Charlie brought me the manuscript of his forthcoming book, arguing that everyone, christians as well as Jews, should observe Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath, just as he and his family had begun to do from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. It is a measure of our close relationship that he dedicated the book to me. His brilliant exposition of these arguments provide clear evidence for the non-necessity of college education for most young Americans. Amen.

Speaker 1:

My heart breaks for his young widow, erica, and for his two children, who have lost a great man and a father as children can have, and for Charlie, who did not live to see them grow up. For one of the first times in my 20 years, with my wife Sue, I have seen her sob uncontrollably. With my wife Sue, I have seen her sob uncontrollably. The Prager home is in deep mourning, as are the houses of countless Americans. The loss to us personally and to the country generally is immeasurable.

Speaker 1:

Well, that's all I can read right now. I can't do any more because I'll just lose it. I mean, I've never felt this sick before, I mean since probably 9-11. I just can't believe it. I'm still in disbelief. I cannot believe this happened and I just oh, I hope we can get through this.

Speaker 1:

I know, well, I don't know anything. I don't know anything. I hope they find the guy. I think it was a professional hit, but that's a topic for another episode. So I have no questions of the day, that's it. I just want to honor Charlie and I want to flood social media with all of his clips and I'm going to ignore and not even pay any attention to all the other people out there. They don't need a voice, they just just all the people out there who want to celebrate this. They're just ridiculous people and I don't, I don't even, I don't even want to give them the airtime that I'm giving them now. So just ignore them. I want everybody to ignore them. Push them out and just flood your social media with Charlie Kirk clips, and that's all I've got for you today. That's it. I don't even know. I don't even know. It's horrible. I wish I could leave you with something more inspiring, but I can't. Bye.
