Who Would You Shadow? Famous People, Murder, and Mysterious Space Objects

Carol Marks

TALK TO ME, TEXT IT

Ever wondered which famous figure you'd shadow for a day if given the chance? This episode kicks off with this thought-provoking question, revealing as much about ourselves as the personalities we'd choose. While many might gravitate toward following dynamic figures like President Trump, I confess Queen Elizabeth would have been more my speed! The conversation naturally expands to consider journalists, athletes, and religious leaders as potential candidates, each offering unique windows into different worlds and values.

The lighthearted opening gives way to a more somber discussion of a shocking tragedy within the television industry. Travis Renee Baldwin, a beloved makeup artist who worked with prominent anchors including Greta Van Susteren at Newsmax, was allegedly killed by her own son in her Arlington apartment. This heartbreaking story raises profound questions about family dynamics, mental health, and the limited context provided in news reporting about such devastating events.

Perhaps most fascinating is our exploration of a mysterious interstellar object designated "Atlas" currently passing through our solar system. Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb has made the remarkable observation that this Manhattan-sized object appears to emit its own light rather than merely reflecting sunlight. Even more intriguing, Loeb speculates the object could potentially be powered by nuclear energy or—in a truly mind-bending possibility—might be an artificial craft created by extraterrestrial intelligence on a reconnaissance mission through our solar system.

The episode wraps up with an exciting announcement about my new YouTube channel "An Americanist," featuring short, simple videos responding to current events—filmed right from my car just like this podcast! Speaker 1:

Well, hello, good morning, happy Wednesday. We are going to do the question of the day again at the beginning of this episode. My question is what famous person would you want to follow around for the day? I know most people are going to say President Donald Trump. For me that would be fascinating and interesting, but I don't think I could keep up, quite frankly, not just physically but mentally, with this man. There's't think I could keep up, quite frankly, not just physically but mentally, with this man. There's no way I could keep up. And then there's the royalty I would want. If Queen Elizabeth were still alive, that's who I would want to follow around for the day, because that's more my speed, okay. And King Charles, no, I think he would be boring, as I don't as all get out, I would not want to follow him around. And then I thought maybe a journalist, some kind of famous journalist, or maybe a media pundit, somebody like Maria Bartiromo, somebody like that. But then I thought no, because they will be on their phone all freaking day talking to the people, the interns that actually go out and do the real jobs. So I'm like, no, that's not interesting.

Speaker 1:

Then I thought maybe a religious person. If Billy Graham were still alive, that would be maybe good to follow around. Not the Pope. No, I love the Pope, but no, I would not want to follow him around, probably because he stays in prayer a lot and that means I would probably fall asleep a lot. I mean, I know, I'm sorry, but I'm just being honest. You know how many times have I tried to meditate and pray and then I fall asleep? So I don't know. I don't know who I would pick. I don't know who I would pick. I'd have to think about it. So my question to you is who would would pick? I don't know who I would pick. I'd have to think about it. So my question to you is who would you pick? So give me some. Maybe an athlete, a famous athlete Riley Gaines might be fun to follow around because she's on a mission. Megan Kelly might be interesting to follow around. I don't know. Tell me who you would think would be fun to follow around and learn something from.

Speaker 1:

All right, so I have a couple of stories here. Y'all, it is getting harder and harder to find stories silly stories to bring to you that are not serious. Everything is gloom and doom and murder and rape, and I mean just all kinds of nastiness, it's just terrible. So we are bringing you well, I am going to bring you one story that's kind of sad. Not kind of sad, it is sad. I noticed yesterday on Twitter that Greta Van Susteren tweeted out that her makeup artist was murdered the other night, and so I'm going to bring this story to you from the New York Post. I hate when they do this, though they don't give us a reason or anything of why this happened.

Speaker 1:

Beloved TV hair and makeup professional Travis Renee Baldwin gunned down by her own son in the DC area apartment. A beloved television hair and makeup artist was fatally gunned down by her own son at her washington dc area home on sunday. According to reports, travis renee baldwin, who was 57 years old, was allegedly shot by her 27 year old son, logan christinger, inside her arlington, virginia apartment just before 8 30 am on sunday morning. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she later died, according to officials. Now there's a picture of them together, you know, I guess, when things were okay and they both look totally normal and fine. Everything looks great. Christinger remained at the scene after the alleged murder and is currently being held without bond on arlington county detention facility.

Speaker 1:

Baldwin is a longtime television professional who most recently worked at the outlet newsmax, where she expertly piled her, applied her craft for anchors like greta van susteren. What a sadness. And then the then they talk about the tweet that greta sent out. Um newsmax white house producer maricela ramirez mourned the tragic and shocking loss, called baldwin heaven's newest angel and a heartfelt tribute on social media, and it goes on to talk about what a great person she is. And then, but it says nothing about the son, except for this Chris Singer is charged with first degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding and using a firearm in commission of a felony. Newsmax did not respond to the post request for comment.

Speaker 1:

That's it. That's it. No-transcript. Kids, young adults killing their parents lately. What is that about? Somebody tell me, somebody try to explain this to me. I obviously think it's drug related. She may, no, I'm just totally speculating here, totally speculation on my part. Maybe he came to her, you know he, maybe he's a drug addict and he came to her over and over again and she was probably trying to finally say no and maybe do the tough love on him and he got. I don't know. I mean that we always want to look for some kind of explanation of why this happened. I don't know, and I wish they would. I wish they would report these things so we would understand better. Don't you think we should? Don't you think we should? Don't you think we, the public, need to know these things? I don't know. Oh, it's sad. It's sad. I think it's probably drug related. Definitely and probably and I know I'm going to get well, I'm not going to say anymore. I just think it's a type of drug that we used to think was not bad, but nowadays these drugs are laced with all kinds of shit. Don't do drugs, people, all right. So my next story up. Oh, this is kind of interesting. The New York Post again.

Speaker 1:

Manhattan-sized interstellar object appears to emit its own light. Harvard, from a Harvard scientist, y'all. I was reading this and I got to the one of the paragraphs and I just stopped. I thought, okay, this is going to be an interesting one to share with you. Interstellar object okay, there's going to be a lot of scientific names that I'm going to try to pronounce and I'm probably going to butcher them all.

Speaker 1:

Interstellar object 3, I don't know if that says 31 or 3i, slash Atlas, we'll just call it Atlas which is zooming through our inner solar system appears to be emitting its own light, according to a Harvard astrophysicist, Avi Loeb. That's his name, avi Loeb or her name, avi lobe. That's his name, avi lobe or her name. The observation by lobe is verified, would or, I'm sorry, if verified would contradict nasa's classification of the manhattan size object as a comet. The scientists argue in a new blog post. Lobe and a colleague analyzed photos released by nasa of the object in determining that the source of its glow is likely not from the sun. They're saying it's coming from within this rock or whatever it is.

Speaker 1:

The astrophysicist wrote the brightness profile around Atlas implies that the nucleus dominates the observed light. So there's a they're saying there's a nucleus in this thing. I don't want to read on. The simplest interpretation is that the nucleus of Atlas produces most of the light. He wrote in the paper published Sunday. The level of the light observed on Atlas could be achieved from a source diameter smaller than 100 meters. Who knows how big? That is right. The shift in understanding the light source would also mean that atlas is quite smaller than initially thought and more comparable in size to the two other known interstellar objects. I guess there's more of them with them. Okay, so these are the names of the other two. All right, okay, and more comparable in size to the two other known interstellar objects named Omama and Borisov. Now, who names these things? I don't know. All right, if Atlas were reflecting light, it would mean the object was 12 miles long, which is improbable, according to astrophysicist.

Speaker 1:

Ok Loeb speculated that the nucleus of the object could be in fact be nuclear and possibly an engine crafted by an alien people, y'all. That's where it lost me, that's where I had to stop reading. But the article goes on and on. So I know I say that all the time, but if you want to read that, it's on my X-File. I'll read a little bit more. I guess A natural nuclear source could be a rare fragment from the core of a nearby supernova that is rich in radioactive material. This possibility is highly unlikely, given the scarce reservoir of radioactive elements in interstellar space Lowbroke.

Speaker 1:

Alternatively, atlas could be a spacecraft powered by a nuclear energy and the dust emitted from its frontal surface might be from dirt that accumulated on its surface during its interstellar travel, lobe conjectured, adding this cannot be ruled out, but requires better evidence to be viable. Well, yeah, of course, lobe argued. This conclusion is bolstered by atlas fine-tuned trajectory. Oh, what does that mean? That suspicious trajectory will see the object blocked from earth's view by the sun, just as it will get its closest to our pale blue dot and I guess there's a map here it will may also make passes of mars and jupiter, adding to lobe suspicions that this could be a reconnaissance mission conducted by an inquisitive interstellar intelligence. Oh, my gosh y'all, they are pushing this hard to distract us all. Loeb is now calling for the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter to use its high-rise camera to make observations of Atlas when it passes by 17 million miles away in the first week of October. 17 million miles away, I mean, if you sit and think about space, it really is spectacular, all right.

Speaker 1:

So what do you think about that y'all? Do you think that like is real? Okay, I'm over my limit, I gotta go. Thanks for listening that y'all. Do you think that like is real? Okay, I'm over my limit, I gotta go. Thanks for listening. Love y'all. Bye, oh, oh, oh. One more thing. I have started a brand new YouTube channel. I have uploaded my first video already. I'm going to keep them real short and simple. Uh, basically just responding to things that are happening in the news and guess what you're gonna love this? I do it in my car, just like I do my podcast in my car, because you know why? That's the only time I have to myself. So there you go. All right, I got to go. Thanks for listening. Go subscribe to my YouTube channel. It's An Americanist, simple to remember. All right, love y'all. Bye.
